Stuttering/FPS drops FIX! - Gamersunity-Foren

Hello guys.

First of all my rig:
GPU: GeForce GTX 580
CPU: AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1090T Processor
Memory: 8,00 GB RAM
Resolution: 1920 x 1080, 60Hz
Motherboard: ASRock 970 Extreme3
Nvidia Driver Version: 331.65
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit)
Power supply:+XILENCE 700W (ModelNo: XP700)
HDD: Hitachi HDS722020ALA330 1TB
SSD: Samsung SSD 840 Pro Series

Since the launch I had some serious problems with Battlefield 4, such as Microstutters, FPS drops and weird lags. You can see that my system should clearly be able to handle BF4 even at higher graphical settings but even at the lowest I experienced these problems. So I've played around a bit and tried several fixes that didn't work for me but MAY work for you

1. Start the x86 version.
2. Try borderless/windowed mode.
3. Reinstall the game completely on my other hard disk.
4. Reinstall Punkbuster manually
5. Install older graphic drivers/ clean reinstall
6. Update .Net Framework to 4.5.
7. Repair installation
8. Set priority to low in task manager
9. Set network smooting factor to 0 (I would always recommend that to anybody even if you dont have issues!)
10. Update the chipset drivers of my motherboard and update my bios (I wouldn't recommend that if your system runs fine apart from BF4 as it can cause serious damage to your computer!)
11. Unpark all of my 6 cores with a tool (I would always recommand that, as it gives you a significant FPSboost! -> http://www.coderbag.com/Programming-...arking-Utility)

Nothing of that really helped me until I simply locked my framerate to 60 with the console, Vsync disabled.
Just enter following command into the console and you may be just fine: GameTime.MaxVariableFps 60
You can use another number if your system is worse (e.g. lock it to 40 or 50 frames) or better than mine (lock it to 90 if you can).

This fixed most of my microstutter and fps drop issues. Occasionally I still have some small drops and stutters but now it's definitely playable!
