Wäre wunderbar. Ja also ich hätte die jetzt kaum abgestoßen ^^.
Schade. Wenn ich nicht nur noch ne Woche da wäre würde ich mir E
mal reinziehen. Schade schade...

Hey guys (and gals)
I asked the mods to put together a quick list of questions they were seeing about the Constellation models. Then I sat down with the other members of the Design group and put together some answers. Here's a quick rundown; if you have more questions, please post them here!
Q. Are the Phoenix’s missiles Size 1 or Size 2?
A. The Phoenix’s missiles are Size 2. The brochure incorrectly listed them as Size 1 at one point, and has now been corrected.
Q. Is the Phoenix’s powerplant hull specific?
A. No. The Phoenix includes a Wei-Tek HF-R3 Plus powerplant. It’s a size 6 powerplant and could be fitted on any other Constellation model. What makes the Constellation Phoenix unique is that it has the capacity to upgrade to a size 7 powerplant (one higher than any other variant.)
Q. What happened to the Phoenix’s TR7 engine?
A. The TR7 engine briefly listed on the page was a typo; a TR7 engine would be far too large for a ship the size of the Constellation! (For comparison, the Bengal strike carrier has TR7 engines!)
Q. Does the Phoenix have a lower turret?
A. Yes, the Phoenix does include a lower turret. It is not yet accessible in the Hangar. The specifications reflect the current plans for each ship; if items don’t appear yet, it’s often because we’re still working on the models!
Q. What is the Class 9 mount found on the Phoenix? Can I add it to other variants?
A. You can not add the Phoenix’s Class 9 mount to other Constellations’ hulls because they do not have a hardpoint. The equipment included with the ship in this slot is a point defense weapon; think a CIWS-style weapon that will automatically attempt to shoot down incoming missiles and fighters.
Q. Why is there no “combat” variant of the Constellation?
A. The short answer is that we thought it would be boring! We’ve included combat variants of several of our ships and wanted to do something different for the Constellation. Ship variants are intended to show you a range of possibilities for where you can take your personal Star Citizen ship. In Star Citizen’s lore, RSI makes starships for the common man… so we thought it would be more exciting to see civilian roles. In Star Citizen’s expanded fiction, there was a prototype military Constellation made for the UEE military… but it hasn’t as of yet been mass produced. It’s possible we’ll build that in the future, or you’ll be able to make your own military Connie from the materials provided in the PU.
Q. What is the point of the Constellation Phoenix?
A. There has been a lot of debate about this question, and the answer is actually very simple: it’s a luxury Constellation! We plan our ship variants in an in-universe sense, asking ourselves: what would the actual spacecraft manufacturer sell? So much like you might purchase a luxury model of a car with all sorts of fancy addons (Northstar, seat warmers, leather seats, etc.) you can purchase a luxury Constellation. To get this across in Star Citizen, we planned the Phoenix with higher quality upgrades and a little more room to expand than the base model. This isn’t intended to make it the ‘best’ Constellation… it’s intended to be a cool variant!
We also like to come up with variants that let you know a little more about the Star Citizen universe; we’re always excited to have a ship that isn’t just another dogfighter. Because there’s going to be a lot more to do in the Star Citizen universe than battle other players! As with all the variants, the Phoenix is intended to let you develop it as you see fit… but some of the roles we talked about during the design process including luxury transport (high profile NPCs, especially valuable cargo), armored transport, smuggling and command and control for organizations. A Phoenix would make a great Org flagship!
But really, a huge part of it is that we want the Star Citizen universe to be a living, breathing thing with plenty of immersion… and having ships to build on that fit into all sorts of molds speaks to that. We intend for luxury craft like the Phoenix and the 890 Jump to have a role in our universe from a gameplay standpoint AND to be prized jewels that players can brag about owning!
(Also, please note that ship prices are based on what would make sense in the universe and do not denote which is the absolute coolest in every way. A fancy luxury car might cost quite a bit more than a pickup truck… but it also wouldn’t be any good at hauling mulch. Having backers consider that is more interesting than pointing at one and saying ‘this is the coolest, it does everything, get this and no others!’)
Q. Can I remove the ‘luxury’ interior of the Phoenix to increase cargo space?
A. We would like to do this in the future. All ships will have some degree of internal customization at launch (similar to the Hangar – after all, you have to put your piano somewhere!) and we plan to expand that as we go… but making the ships flyable and allowing you to alter pre-set hardpoints. (Note that there are also internal hardpoints; the Constellation has space to install mission-specific panels, as mentioned in the brochure!) So, for everyone wanting to remove the hot tub/luxury interior to have a statistically superior Constellation… we hear you and will be keeping that in mind as development goes forward. But we’re not prepared to promise it at launch at this point.
Q. What happened to the ‘space superiority’ role for the Constellation?
A. There has been no change in this regard when it comes to gameplay! We may use different terminology for the in-universe sale page, but the Constellation Andromeda (the original model) is still a space superiority platform. Remember Chris once promised that the Constellation could reasonably take on three Hornets… and you were able to see him and his crew do just that in the recent Gamescom live demo!
Q. Are ships entirely role-specific now? Do I need to buy the one that matches how I want to fly?
A. NO – and that’s a NO in big, bold letters. Every ship available is a base from which you can customize to the role you want to play. The idea behind variants is to 1) show how this can be done and 2) give backers some options in terms of the look of the ship. Like the big windows in the Constellation Aquila but want to use it for cargo? You’re free to kit it out however you like! This is true for every single ship we sell and will not change.
